The ZoneAlarm Team
We can’t wait to see those costumes! But, just as you have always lectured your kids about safety as they run off to enjoy this night of mischief, it’s time for us to share a few online security tips that will keep those scary online ghosts and goblins away.
Unfortunately, hackers prey on holidays or special events to lure people into clicking on malicious links. We don’t want you to fall prey to another “Dancing Skeleton” download like last year – which contained a virus and enabled hackers to gain access to victims’ PC. So, be smart this Halloween and follow a few simple rules:
Think twice before opening an email related to Halloween. Some dangerous email subject lines used in the past included, “Have a nice Allhallowmas!” or “Halloween Fun.”
Do not click on any suspicious links. Often times, malicious links are embedded into an e-card greeting from someone you might know.
Make sure your security software is up to date. With ZoneAlarm, you just need to click the Check for Updates link in the lower left corner of the window.
HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE HALLOWEEN!
