I have been using ZA free firewall for a few years now and am happy with it. After a virus scan today,(I use **bleep** Antivirus V10) the file in the subject line was identified as a virus. Here is the log:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\srescan.dll Detected: Application.LSP
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\srescan.dll Disinfection failed
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\srescan.dll Move failed
My guess is that this file has always been here and for some reason is just now being identified as a virus. Should I do anything about this or just consider it a false positive?
Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\srescan.dl is legitimate file of the ZA Antispy scanner. Deleting it and the corresponding s registry key is of no consequesnce for the ZA free firewall.
Obvious false detection by BitDefender, but if that file gets deleted or damaged, your ZA free version will still work fine.
I suppose you could either report the false detecction to your AV vendor or wait for a new databse update- it may get corrected by the vendor.
