Is Zone Alarm Free Edition good for the regular person?
I wanted to know if the free version of Zone alarm is sufficient enough to protect a computer. I don't keep my computer on all day, just only when needed and I don't do heavy downloading. Just sufrfing and not to porn sites.
My question comes about because in the comparison chart, I see tht the free version of Zone Alrm does not have the "triple layer defense" that the commercial version has. Can someone explain to me what this triple layer defense is.
is there any way to change the language ofg Zone alarm to spanish?>Thanks,Bob
Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)
Re: Is Zone Alarm Free Edition good for the regular person?
The triple defence firewall is due to the combination of ZA's traditional outbound/inbound firewall technology which is in ZA (free) and the new OSFirewall feature which is not available in ZA (free).
The OSFirewall monitors the processes running in the background, something which is not easily viewable without such software. Some of the stuff the OSFirewall monitors include when change are being made to critical registry locations, insertion of files to the startup, hijacking of processes/files, notifying users when a potentially suspicious/dangerous program is monitoring your keyboard strokes etc. This aims to do two main things: stopping dangerous software from installing in your computer, and stopping malicious software from making an outbound connection by hijacking legitimate programs to make the connection which the traditional outbound protection in ZA would not be able to protect you.
ZA is available in 6 languages: English, Dutch, Espanol(Spanish), French, Italian, Japanese. You can buy the Espanol version of ZA from the spanish ZL website:
