Since installing ZoneAlarm about two months ago, I have had around 40,000 access attempts. To me, that seems a bit high. Is that as high as I'm thinking it may be, or is that normal from regular surfing/mudding/torrenting? Another computer on this network has only a few hundred attempts, and that was installed at the same time. But that doesn't get used as often as this computer does.
If that is a huge amount, what can I do to fix the problem?
Any help is appreciated,
Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite
Re: Access attempts
Depending on how you use your computer, your connection, and your ISP this could be normal. I've seen users with much higher numbers. If you use a file-sharing or peer2peer program, this will increase your intrusion attemps. If you are a member of a news group, this will also increase the count. The bad news is there is not much you can do about it. The good news is that Zone Alarm is blocking the attempts. BTW, most of these 'intrusion attempts' are likely benign.
