vsmon does something on startup for 5-10minutes with 10.1.065
Since upgrading to ZA Extreme 10.1.065
vsmon does something in the background for 5-10 minutes.
It is enough to affect computer performance
(typing is delayed / stuttered) and a quick trip to the task manager
shows vsmon.exe jumping up and down from 0-10 cpu usage.
No scan is in progress according to ZA's user interface.
This did not happen in 10.1.056
What's the scoop?
Re: vsmon does something on startup for 5-10minutes with 10.1.065
Nothing has changed in relation to what you describe between the two versions. If you are sure its not the scanning bug happening at boot then it can only be an interaction with other running tools at boot that makes your system slow. This is also linked to the available RAM and CPU at the time of the slow, probably not much.
May be ZA is updating the antivus signature, this normally happens in the first 15 minutes after the boot.
0-10 CPU load seems perfectly fine and could be linked to any network or file activity at boot. Vsmon is the main firewall and antivirus driver all network and file activity will pass via vsmon. Probably this happens in combination with other activies on the system that overall are overcharging the available capacity.
You can simply try to boot your system only with ZA and standard OS services and see if you are experiencing the same. So to identify the third party software that slow down your system. You don't give any information on your system (when posting you should give them) so I will need to give you generic XP/vista instructions!
1.) Click Start -> Run
2.) Type MSConfig in the run box (or search box in VISTA) and click OK (ENTER in VISTA)
3.) Once in MSConfig, click the Startup Tab
4.) Remove the checks from everything except zatray and forcefield
5.) Click the Services Tab
6.) Place a check in "Hide All Microsoft Services"
7.) Now remove checks from everything other than TrueVector Internet
Monitor and ForceField (if present), and click OK.
8.) Restart your computer
How does it work?
NOTE: You can place your computer back into a normal startup process by
going back into msconfig and choosing the Normal Startup option on the
