Hi ppl, my OS is Windows 7 Professional bit and I am running Zone Alarm Extreme Security. Recently brought Asus USB-N66 (N900) Dual Band Wireless Adapter. However after installed, the wifi adapter is always disabled and Asus WLAN utility keeps crashing upon launch.
Just want to check if anyone else have the same problem. the drivers used by Asus seems to be from RaLink.
Re: ZoneAlarm Extreme Security Conflict with Asus USB Wifi adapter
yes, this is a common issue, each producer priovides utlities for its adapter that most of the time are replacing system native OS components. For security tools (including ZA), its basically impossible to ensure compatibility with these hundreds different tools.
What you need to do is to let windows 7 to manage the WIFI via its native "wireless zero configuration". http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...(v=vs.85).aspx
To do so you need to remove the specific software privided by the manufacturer and only ensure that manufacturer drivers (and not the software) is installed on the system.
This should solve your issue. There have been several posts in the past years in this forum basically saying the same.
