    Default Expert Rules Won't Stay!

    I'm trying to create an expert rule for a particular program. Actually, I've created the rule for the program it's just that when I either restart the computer or ZA the expert rule gets deleted. It's beginning to be an annoyance having to redo it all the time. Does anyone know how to get it to stay?

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Pro
    Software Version:6.5

    If Zone Alarm Pro doesn't remember your rule, then the likely cause is a database corruption. Resetting your database should fix the problem. Reset the database this way; you will lose your customizations and will need to reconfigure Zone Alarm.

    1. Boot your computer into the Safe Mode. {Instructions if needed}
    2. Navigate to the c:\windows\internet logs folder.
    3. Delete the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files in the folder.
    4.Reboot into the normal mode.

    I just did this exact same thing based on your response to another of my posts so I know this doesn't help. No sites are being added to my site list and no site I add will follow the manual privacy settings I apply to it. I have sites set up to allow everything and still everything gets blocked. I had to completely shut off the ad and cookie blockers. And now it won't even remember any expert rules after a reboot. I should have saved my money and stayed with Zone Alarm Free. Thx for trying tho.

    Don't give up just yet. It could be your upgrade to Zone Alarm Pro is corrupt and not just the database. Try a 'clean' uninstall of Zone Alarm Pro followed by a fresh install. Download and save the installation file first. Here's what to do. Go into the start menu locate the zonelabs entry and right click on the uninstaller and select properties. Now in the target box you must add a space and then /clean to the end so that it looks something like this "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean click apply and then OK. Next open ZA and turn off the load on boot option, then reboot and then run the uninstaller.This should get rid of all of ZoneAlarm. Now go to your windows temp folder and delete everything. Find the folder named Internet logs and delete it then empty your recycle bin. Now install the firewall anew. Let us know what happens.

    No. I've switched to Agnitum **bleep** Firewall Pro. It has many more options and they all actually work. I recommend it.
