Default Cannot manually add programs to ZA

I am using the free version of ZA 7.0.362.

It has been working fine, but recently I discovered I could not add a program manually. New programs that are installed will sometimes trigger the pop-up, but sometimes they don't and ZA will block access by default, but when I look on the Programs List, no entry is there for said program. When I click "Add" and choose the EXE file, it will close the Browse window but not add it to the list.

Any suggestions other than to uninstall and do a complete (clean) reinstall?

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

Hi!You may want to try a ZA database reset..... it will wipe out your ZA settings.http://www2.nohold.net/noHoldCust542...rruptlogs.htmlI would also check you are free of malware, for example, here: http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscannerAnd clean your system/registry (www.ccleaner.com) If the ZA database reset fails I am afraid you will need to try a clean uninstall/reinstallCheers,Fax

I've had to do this a million times. Within a day or two of doing a clean install of ZASS 7.x, it begins to forget my settings and I can't manually add programs to the list. I've simply resorted to turning off Program Control completely. Since doing that, I've had no problems with internet access or running programs. There had better be a fix for this soon as it has been present since version 7 was released (this is on an XP Pro machine).

Hi!are you running any specific utiltity to speed up your system or improve shutdown? These utilities can corrupt the ZA database...Corruption of the database are happening for the following reasons:- Cold shutdown (ZA is closed prematurely or its service is force to close)- PC hang - PC crash- You have a malware infection- There is an application (often security related) that is conflicting with ZATry to start your system with ZA and OS standard services and application and see if you still get the problem. This will isolate the issue only to ZA and the system and not third party software. This way:1.) Click Start -> Run
2.) Type MSConfig in the run box and click OK
3.) Once in MSConfig, click the Startup Tab
4.) Remove the checks from everything except ZLClient
    5.) Click the Services Tab
6.) Place a check in "Hide All Microsoft Services"
7.) Now remove checks from everything other than TrueVector Internet
    Monitor, and click OK.
8.) Restart your computerNOTE: You can place your computer back into a normal startup process by
going back into msconfig and choosing the Normal Startup option on the
    General tab.Cheers,Fax
