Default Folks, Can someone who's an expert on configuring ZA tell...

    Folks,

Can someone who's an expert on configuring ZA tell me please how to block certain ports that the "Shields UP" website determined were insecure? Here is what it said:

GRC Port Authority Report created on UTC: 2008-02-01 at 05:03:51

    Results from scan of ports: 0, 21-23, 25, 79, 80, 110, 113,
    119, 135, 139, 143, 389, 443, 445,
    1002, 1024-1030, 1720, 5000

    0 Ports Open
    3 Ports Closed
    23 Ports Stealth
    ---------------------
    26 Ports Tested

NO PORTS were found to be OPEN.

Ports found to be CLOSED were: 25, 80, 443

Other than what is listed above, all ports are STEALTH.

TruStealth: FAILED - NOT all tested ports were STEALTH,
    - NO unsolicited packets were received,
    - NO Ping reply (ICMP Echo) was received.

Ideally, all port should show as being in stealth mode but 3 reported back as being closed. They shouldn't respond at all the site states.

    I'd appreciate it!

    Thanks.

    Operating System:Windows Vista Home Premium
    Software Version:7.1 (Vista)
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

    Dear pressmoon:

When you performed the Shields UP test, the webpage listed your IP address detected. If you are using a router, Shields UP tests it, not your PC. This is easy to confirm by clicking Start on your PC, then Run, type CMD, then click OK. In the DOS window that opens, type:

    ipconfig /all

Compare it with the IP listed on the Shields UP page. They won't be the same as home routers also function as a DHCP server, providing IP addresses(private IPs not routable on the Internet)and provides NAT, protecting your PC from a direct connection to the Internet.

If it is your router, you will have to go into your router configuration screen to see if you can harden it any further.

    Hope this helps.
