    Default Suppressing system tray icon?

How can I suppress the distracting blinking red and green system try icon which ZA installs? I cannot seem to find any such option in the documentation.

    Thank you,

    CR (blinking)

Hi!there is not such an option in ZA. But if you are runnnig XP or VISTA just go to task manager --> taskbar tab --> customize --> Select ZAand choose "always hide"Cheers,Fax

    Fax,
I like the red-green icon. It's a vital control to me. But I'd like it to be the ONLY indicator of ZA. I don't want/need that thing in the middle where open things are as it takes away valuable space from other things open. Is there a way?

No, not adding, but including thre.
It's cosmetic. Not important in the scope of malware issues. But an annoyance.
It only has to do with the real estate. Client UI could be in the context menu.

I'll try to add the image here, if it doesn't work, the ref above will.

Years ago the ZA had a "always in the taskbar" feature to re-assure users the ZA was working. That haunting snippet of code does hit some users from time to time and the ZA button in the taskbar does not go away when the ZA is sent back to the tray. The usual solution to remove that redunant button is do a " /clean" uninstall and re-install the ZA.

I ALWAYS HAVE IT!! I didn't know you all don't. Unfair.

I do recall, one of the v5 versions brought it into ZASS. Ever since, whether it's ZASS, ZAfree or now ZA-AS it's there. ZA Free on other computers which never saw ZASS also have this real estate eating thingie.

Since I have done many /clean uninstallations in every one of these versions, I don't think that'll work. There's gotta be something still very hidden someplace.

    Check this registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

and in the right panel look to see if there is more than one Zone Labs Client mentioned. The correct one should have a Data of C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe. The other is the imposter. Delete the imposter entry.

Hi Oldsod, I've been there. Just one correct entry.
Also searched the entire rigistry for all occurences of "taskbar" (that's what it's called, right?). No ZA entries at all.

There's a Alt-F4 option on that big icon. Something about "send to the system tray". Well, that thinks I want to shut down ZA. So that didn't help either.
