Default eBBSVC.exe

HiI am a little confused by this eBBSVC.exe program listing in Zone Alarm Pro. I know that it is part of the software for my Epson Printer. It has internet excess, but it keeps asking for server access also. I am not sure that it needs server access. If I deny the access, I keep getting new requests for the server access. If I allow it and say to save it, after a while, I get the request again for server access. I have tried emailing Epson about it, but there response was that it is part of the program to run my printer and has to do with monitoring the ink supply. I'm confused about whether it needs the server access also and why only that one setting seems to become a ? in the permissions after a while. As you can tell I am not that computer literate. Thanks for any input you can give me, but please keep it in simple terms . Thank you in advance.

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro x64
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Pro

Hi!Try to manually set eBBSVC.exe that is '?' into a 'X' or a 'V'to block or allow.Be sure to set smardefense to 'custom' (for that item). Then shut down ZA, wait 30 seconds, open again ZA and see if it kept the 'X' of the 'V'Cheers,Fax

Thanks for your response. What I am trying to find out first is whether or not that .exe needs to have server rights? The setting for the internet access stays and I know it has to have internet access. I don't know if that has to act as a server also. I have had requests for the server access coming from Canada and even China, so I am wondering if that exe needs the server rights.

Hi!May be it needs server rights to the trusted zone but I have no idea why it would need server rights to the Internet zone.Just block it and see if it still works. The only one to know how the executable works are the producers of the software.Cheers,Fax
