Default Wall Street Journal Online

I used to be able to get WSJ online, something changed. The only way I can get WSJ now is by shutting down ZA.
Using XP, ZA7 and Firefox.

Operating System:Windows XP Pro
Software Version:7.0
Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum!

I am very sorry you are having problems with ZA and hopefully I will be able to find a solution for you.

It is likely your Privacy settings causing the problem. The Privacy advisor can help resolve the issue and allow you to customise those sites for your use. You will need to go to the Privacy Panel and click on 'custom' in Cookie Control. Then go to the bottom and enable 'Show Privacy Advisor' click apply then ok.

Next go to the page in question and when the Privacy Advisor alert pops up, click on "Click here for details'' and it should take you to the Site List box where you will see the entry causing the problem. The name of the entry can be found in the "Entry Detail" box at the bottom of the page. Now click on 'options' and turn off the ones that interfer with the page. You may have to try several and then refresh the page until the issue is resolved. Also clean your cache when completed

If the above solution does not work for you, PLEASE try the following.

Reset the database this way; you will lose your customizations and will need to reconfigure Zone Alarm.

1. Boot your computer into the Safe Mode.

2. Navigate to the c:\windows\internet logs folder.

3. Delete the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files in the folder.

4. Reboot into the normal mode.

How Do I Boot Into Safe Mode?

PLEASE keep me posted on your results, THANKS.

Good morning --
After several phone calls with the wsj.com tech support and some experiments with ZA, I think I figured it out.
First (in Privacy settings), I had to allow mobile code and all cookies (including 3rd party) for several WSJ sites:

discovered that access required (for me) allowing "web bugs" for the "commerce.wsj.com" URL.

Once I enabled that, the online site came right up.

Good Morning,

This is my first posting to this forum, so let's see if I can get this right.
I have been unable to access the WSJ online site, and their techs have explained that is a common problem for ZA users.
This morning, I think I stumbled on the answer....

First, I
enabled mobile code and all cookies (including 3rd party) for the WSJ sites (online.wsj.com, commerce.barrons.com, and commerce.wsj.com).

Second, I deleted all Ad Blocking for those sites.

Still no joy, though.

Finally (here's the "stumble&quot I enabled the "web bugs" for the URL: commerce.wsj.com and whaddya know?
the site came right up.

I'm not
a fan of permitting web bugs, but this site seems to require that.

Try it and see.
Aloha, Geographer

mnoon,

Is this the site you are trying to access:
http://online.wsj.com/public/us

What browser are you using?
Were you ever able to access the site?
Just as a test - I'm assuming you're a ZAISS user - go to privacy tab -> main tab then turn off cookie control, turn off ad blocking, turn off mobile code. Then try to access your wsj site - any luck?

Hi Findley,
I did as you advised by turning off all that stuff and now I can access the WSJ.

The site I have been trying to access was www.wsj.com or I would type it into google and select the first link.

I am using internet explorer 7.
Here is some other information about zone alarm
ZoneAlarm Security Suite version:7.0.473.000
TrueVector version:7.0.473.000
Driver version:7.0.473.000
Anti-virus engine version:3
Anti-virus SDK version:5.0.1.85
Anti-virus signature DAT file version:954056024
Anti-spyware engine version:5.0.189.0
Anti-spyware signature DAT file version:01.200806.4175

I was able to access the WSJ before I installed zone alarm.
Don't I need all that stuff on that I turned off, cookie control, ad blocking, etc.
