Default Microsoft Office Outlook is Synchronizing Folders

This is happening.
I don't know where it is synchronizing with.
I wish to stop it.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I'm not so sure this should have been tagged "off topic".
I had the same problem, and found that if I disabled Zone Alarm Pro prior to starting Outlook, the problem went away.
Seems to coincide with the new version of Zone Alarm.

Anybody know how to send this thread to Zone Labs to see if they can or will help?

Hi Mike,
I've done a lot of Googling on this subject because I noticed it on my machine too. When receiving email, if you hover your mouse over the mail icon in the systray, it says "Microsoft Office Outlook is Synchronizing Folders". This totally stumped me because I had never instructed Outlook to synchronize anything. After much research (and no solution) I came across an explanation in the Expert's Exchange. There is actually no problem at all. Microsoft simply changed the message in Outlook 2003 from "Checking Mail" (or whatever it used to say) to "Microsoft Office Outlook is Synchronizing Folders". It's confusing and misleading because Outlook is NOT synchronizing folders at all, just
sending/receiving email, but Microsoft in their infinite wisdom decided that was the hover message they would display.
It's the kind of thing that not only bugs people but also wastes a lot of time as users try to figure out how to stop Outlook from doing something it's not even doing. In any case, Outlook is not screwed up and you can ignore the Synchronizing Folders message.

Outlook started the synchronizing folders madness after I upgraded my Zone Alarm software last month.
I uninstalled ZA last weekend and I no longer have Outlook misbehaving. In my experience, ZA causes this headache...
