    Default Forum Posting Guidelines Question

    I have a question for the forum guru's.
    What is the criteria for locking some topics?
    I am one of the ZASS users that is having the problem with Outlook Express crashing while trying to reply or forward a message when the junk email filter is turned on.
    I have started or posted in several topics related to this since early 2007.
    Today, I had some information from tech support that I wanted to post and found most of the related topics locked.
    Why?
    What criteria do you use to decide to lock these topics?
    It seems to me that it would be better to leave them (at least one) open so that all the information is in one place.
    I didn't bother starting a new topic because it just scatters the information all over the forum, making information harder to find and I figured it would just get locked anyway.
    I've read the forum posting guidelines and I just don't get it.B-)

    1.) Generally Trends are Locked when the Problem is resolved for the Original poster..If you have a question or a problem Please start your own thread. And start only 1 thread for each problem.</COLOR> This insures that each User receives a solution specific to their on Problem,When other user like yourself interject your own problem into the discussion of somebody else's problem, any advice or solution to your problem would confuse and may conflict with the solution to the Originating Users problem..

    Seems to me it
    works against
    your stated purpose:
    1.) In the case of my example, the problem is not resolved, so locking the threads causes users to open a new, repetitive thread which causes multiple threads for the same problem.
    2.) I can understand that it is not necessary to post the entire contents of emails between the user and tech support.
    However, it seems useful for other forum readers to be able to see what steps tech support has suggested and what the result was.
    Just my opinion, not trying to stir things up.:8}
