    Default Odd Browsing Behavior

Starting this morning I've been unable to navigate to certain sites (using either IE or FireFox):

    1) eBay
    2) My web hosting site (hostgator.com)

Yet, I can connect to MSN, my local new channels, etc. Is this just me??

    Also running NAV 2009.

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Software Version:8.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Pro

Just got a new IP very recently assigned to you from your provider?
Sometimes the 'new' IP was previously owned by a banned or blacklisted site(s) or host server.
It can happen; and often sites such as ebay are very quick to add black listed IPs to be blocked by their servers and are slow to remove de-listed IPs (i.e. sites that have been previously blacklisted but are now re-assigned to 'nicer' hosts and server and providers).

Contact your internet provider and ask for details.
    They probably can help you.

Another possibility is some of the backbone server of the internet are either down or too busy to respond or reroute the connections - this could cause a loss of connection to certain areas and sites/servers.
Both sites work for me, but I am in Toronto, Canada and not in Seattle.

Call up a friend or somebody in the family who uses the same provider and is in the nearby area, and ask if they can reach the sites.
Should help figure things out (or just add to the confusion).

I've tried unplugging my DSL modem. My provider is Verizon and I have a dynamic IP address.

This same situation happened to me and many other rogers users a while back - years ago rogers purchased massive blocks of IPs from defunct spyware/spammers based in Mexico and the U.S.
Immediately, the rogers users who received the 'new' IPs, found out they could not reach their own host server/sites and many other sites such as ebay or paypal.

    Could be the same situation.
