    Default ZoneAlarm & Forcefield

I have been using ZA for a long time and
    use
    the Privacy
    component to
extensively clear the IE cache, history, etc.
    on a daily basis.

I am currently doing a trial of Forcefield.

I like it and feel that there is a real role for such a tool.

However, since installing Forcefield, I have noticed that the IE URL history is not being cleared.

    Today, I ran
the ZA Cache Cleaner manually with IE shut down.

It told me that it had deleted
several megabytes of data and files but the URL history was still there.

    After I uninstalled Forcefield and
restarted my machine and reran the ZA Cache Cleaner.

It worked properly and the historical URL details are now gone.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and does anyone know if
    there a simple solution?

    Hi!
ZA forcefield isolate the browser this includes IE temporary items/cache and IE history.
To clean IE history while using FF you need to clear the virtual data in FF (advanced options --> clear virtual data).

If you need to visit items you do not want to be listed in the history just open a ForceField 'private browser' session.
After closing the session no trace will be left on your activity.

Thanks for the confirmation about how things are supposed to work when using the private browser within FF.

    You have confirmed
how I thought that things worked when I was surfing from within the
    private FF environment.

However, my question is related to Web sites that I visit while I am outside of the private browser environment.

That is, when I am using IE in a standard mode.

Those are the URLs that are not being cleared out.

I want that all of that history to be cleared and it would appear that it is not happening.

    Hi!
for standard mode you need to clear out the FF cache as already mentioned.

That is what I am trying to say..... in "standard mode" with FF installed, the cache cleaner does not seem to be clearing the history
of what Web sites I have visited.

With FF not installed, the cleaner works
    as
    I expect.
Sorry if I was not being clear about what I was trying to accomplish.

    Hi!
yes, this is normal and one of the main FF security features.
ZA or IE cannot access to IE cache/history because this is encrypted and isolated from the rest of the system (including IE and ZA).

ZA and IE will clean out the browser cache stored in the standard cache folder.
When browsing with FF data is stored in completely different place

Note that deleting it manually (outside the FF options) may cause FF to malfunction.

    Cheers,

So if I am understanding you correctly, by installing Forcefield, then I am loosing functionality that currently exists within ZA?

Sounds like a funny feature to me.

Hi!loosing functionality? No, probably I am not been very clear.ZA and your browser will still be able to clean your cache and history but not the cache and history of ForceField. To do that you need to use ForceField. Is it clear now? Cheers,Fax

This is the root of my question, if FF installed, the Cache Cleaner does not appear to do anything with URL history
    but with FF uninstalled, it
    works just fine.
Have you tried to use the Zonealarm Cache Cleaner against your IE browser with FF installed?
