    Default Problem with Hotmail/Forcefield

    Good day all
Recently bought Forcefield to add to my ZA protection.
I can log into and get my emails from Google Mail and Yahoo mail but don't even get as far as the log-in page with Hotmail.

Apologies if this has been dealt with earlier. Couldn't find any reference to this problem here.
    Regards

    ZA Security Suite version 8.0.059.000
    Forcefield V1.1.82.0

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

As soon as I hit the send option I realised that the email was not clear.
When I am running Forcefield in "Private Browser mode"
I can log in and access Yahoo mail and Gmail but do not get to the "sign in" page for Hotmail.

Hotmail works fine once Forcefield is shut down.
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards

    Hello.
I too have the same problem when using Hotmail.
There is a way to get Hotmail to work and
keep ForceField running. The solution is to open an unprotected browser session. Simply right-click the ForceField icon in the system tray (for those reading this who are not familiar, the system tray is located in the lower right corner of your screen, to the right of the taskbar). In the pop-up menu that appears, choose Open Unprotected Browser. Needless to say, this browser window is unprotected, so remember to close it after you exit Hotmail.
You can also launch an unprotected browser session from within a protected session by clicking on the FF icon in the IE7 Links toolbar, and choosing 'Open Unprotected Browser'. Not everyone has the Links toolbar displayed, which is why I mentioned the taskbar solution.
I suppose there is no other way,
until ZoneAlarm implements a better solution or a fix in the next version of FF.

Hi and thanks to those who replied with suggestions.

I tried the suggested method and
got to the Hotmail page and logged in by running the unprotected browser option from within the protected browser option of Forcefield - thanks.
It made me wonder if that was just the same as not using Forcefield at all.
I'd like to give the latest BEta version of Forcefield a try to see if this solves the problem completely but don't know the URL for the BETA page.
    This is
    probably a good thing
as I'm no techie and so it will probably be best for me to wait until the experts have finished testing and a new version of Forcefield
    becomes available.
Thanks again to all who contributed.

    Hi!
here below you find the address. The beta seems very stable on my system.
But been a beta it will expire in 60 day.

    http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/free/beta/forcefield

The advantages of using a beta is that you can feedback your problems directly to the ZA ForceField developers.
The disadvantage is that you do not have support.

    Cheers,
    Fax

    Hi Bollinger,
Yes opening an "unprotected browser" is stopping FF from doing most it protection butis needed at times with the current version of FF as with manual windows updates, soyou should use it only on sites that you feel very safe<??> with..
    On the beta testing... IMO

Beta testing is needed "for sure" to try and get most of thebugs out of whatever program.. But, you should have "some "techie" know how,
timeto report, repair and reinstall any problems that most likely will
come up... If not, youshould work with your present version and wait for the release of a newer version...
