Default Ad blocking not working (well)

I'm a recent convert from Norton Internet Security and have found the ZA ad blocking to be nearly ineffective.I have the ZA ad blocking set to to high and all types of ads checked to block.
It seems that all ads which are flash based get through.
I disabled flash in my browser and then saw some regular ads from double-click that I would have certainly expected to be blocked.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to make it work?

ZoneAlarms ad blocking tab is useless and there's nothing you can do about it. Until ZoneLabs fixes its leaky excuse for an ad blocker it's better left switched off.

You're better off using Firefox or K-Meleon with the adblock plugin.

If you don't want to use an adblock-compatible browser, or if you want a one-stop solution that blocks ads for every browser you use, your alternatives are:

    1) Get a copy of WebWasher Classic (freeware!) from http://www.cyberguard.com/products/w...sic/index.html .

    2) Ditch ZoneAlarm for Sunbelt Kerio from http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio.cfm. Its built-in ad blocker actually works.
