Default Outlook Express and Junk E-mail Filter

Outlook Express crashes with an error box referencing msimn.exe having a problem with comctl32.dll. I found a reference on the net that said turning off Zonealarm's junk e-mail filter would stop the problem. It works but now I don't have a Spam filter. Does anybody know how to get OE and the Spam filter to play nice together.

I am running ZAISS 6.5.737.000 and OE 6.0.2900.2180

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite
    Software Version:6.5

Did this start after an upgrade of ZA? Or a new install?

I had a bad update with 6.5.714 that totally borked my system so did an uninstall and reinstall. After the uninstall I used Registry Mechanic and regedit to remove any references to Zonealarm, rebooted and installed 6.5.722. Since then I have had occasional crashes but now OE won't even open with the Junk mail filter turned on.

I am having a similar problem, but Outlook Express just hangs and never loads. Thsi started after an update I received last night. I am running 6.5.737.000, AntiSpam ver 4.8.2.7565. If I disable the Junk Email Filter that Express loads OK, but, obviously, I get no spam filtering. Any ideas?

Apparently nobody has a fix yet. Until they do I found a free spam filter that works as good as or better than Mailsafe. It's called Spamfighter.
