    Default weird problems with hotmail...

    As of last week
    I can no longer
    use hotmail (msn) properly.
Ive fiddled around with settings then came here.
Having read the other zonealarm forum posts I now believe it may be due to zonealarm.
When I try to login I get the usual blank "This page cannot be displayed" page and "cannot find server".Clicking
    'refresh' does nothing, however
clicking 'back' does get the correct next page to open. This pattern follows for every other step in using hotmail except that
my emails never send.Sometimes I can actually see the
correct page start to load for a split then it goes to the blank "This page cannot be displayed" page.
    Once again, if
I click on 'back' it comes up OK.
Running XP home, using windows explorer 6.0.2900.With
    ZoneAlarm Security Suite ver 7.0.408.000
I'm a bit of a PC bumbly too, so go easy on me please.
    Thanks for any help.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

I can only get mail downloaded from web sites (yahoo) if I turn off ZA. This seems to have appeared in the last day and I haven't changed anything.

Same problems with email in ZA Suite.
Many problems with ZA and AT&T accepting each other.
Have to turn off ZA to use email alot of times.

I have had full Zonealarm Security Suite since 2005 but
    don't remember
ever having this problem, before now.
I hope there is a real fix (other than turning off ZA when on the internet...)
    Anyone?
    Thanks.

    Hi terra, blova, justrythis,
My suggestion to you is as follows:
If it was working before and now its not
try resetting the ZA database. This will take you back to a fresh start, your customizations will be gone and you will have to reconfigure ZA.
Instructions to reset the ZA databasefrom this link: http://www2.nohold.net/noHoldCust542...rruptlogs.html
    1. If you are running Windows 95/98/Me/XP/2000, reboot your system into Safe Mode. Your OS determines the method, but normally pressing F8 at the beep, or holding the control key during bootup, will work. For more information on rebooting in Safe Mode, click Start, then Help. Click the Search tab, and type in "Safe Mode". Double- click "Start Windows in Safe Mode" for the instructions.
    2. Open the Internet Logs directory (in 9x/ME this will be "c:\windows\internet logs", in NT/2000 it will be c:\winnt\internet logs, in Windows XP it could be either of these folders).
    3. Delete all files that have the extension .RDB, .LDB, or TMP.
    4. Empty your Recycle Bin.
    5. Reboot your system.

    Hope this helps,

    Findley

G'day Findley,Thanks for your time and suggestion.
I have tried this numerous times but it doesn't have any effect on the problem.
I will put in a request to the Zonealarm support.
    Thanks againTerra
