Default Missing email scan option in Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware > Advanced Options > Virus Mgmt menu

    Hi,
We recently installed ZoneAlarm Security Suite version:7.0.462.000 15-day trial downloaded from the ZA site,
and the option to scan email is missing from
    Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware > Advanced Options
    > Virus Management menu (where it should be located per the help file).
We are running Outlook 2007 SP1 on a Win XP Media Center 2005 OS with all updates.
In the Email Protection menu, we have Inbound and Outbound
Mailsafe protection enabled and Junk email filter enabled.

The junk email toolbar shows up in Outlook 2007 and
    appears to work
    as configured.

Previously, we were using Panda Internet Security 2007, but it was de-installed using their deinstallation procedure (including a small batch file run after the Windows app de-install was run), so in theory, nothing should be left behind(?).
Why is the AV scan option missing and how do we get it back? Are we missing something simple here

    Thanks in advance.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

    Hi!
The feauture was removed in the latest version due to a very buggy module in the antivirus provided by Kaspersky that prevented the correct functioning of e-mail clients.

The e-mail messages will be scanned for virus and malware 'on access'. So you will be still perfectly protected.
Also the mailsafe feature will prevent direct access to executables.

However please note that ZA officially does not support Windows Media Center version of XP.

    Cheers,

Thanks for the quick response, which has prompted a couple other questions:
    1.)
So, the AV engine of the suite is actually Kasperski?

    2.)
    Does it
    function identically
and is it very similar code as their own commercial product?
It's my understanding (thanks to Google)
that Kasperski does some things (coding-wise) that basically break some coding rules set forth by Microsoft.
    3.)

    Why
the lack of support for XP Home Media Edition 2005 (what are the technical reasons)?
    Totally confused by this
    comment, since
isn't it merely XP Home with a few
apps to provide a "nicer" user
    experience
    for using attached multimedia hardware?
4.) Is just the ZA firewall supported under XP HME 2005?
    Thanks in advance,
    marctony

1 and 2. Yes, engine is from Kaspersky. Same engine code as retail version but different options.
    3. No idea why is not supported in Media Center Editions
    4. Nope
