Hi and welcome to the Zone Alarm Users Forum

    This sounds like malware.

Please try a scan with the freeware Ewido from ewido, net, either by the free download/install/ freeware after trial or the online scanner (use IE6).

A good site for help with this problem is the spywarewarrior.com or copy and paste the url:

    Take care.

Make sure the spelling is exactly as you think it is. IEXPLORE is not lEXPLORE is not IEXPL0RE is not lEXPL0RE.

Is that a letter O (Oh) or the number zero? Is that the letter capital I (eye) or lowe case l (el), or is it the number 1.

Malware often masquerades as legitimate programs by substituting numerals and letters for similar looking characters in the oiginal file name. Depending on your diplay font it can sometimes be easy to miss.

I have the same problem. It seems to be associated with ZoneAlarm's ForceField. It began when I updated to the current version. When I open IE, I always get two instances in task manager. If I open a second window, I believe I get another instance. When closing IE, not all instances close.

I have scanned for malware and none found.

This does not seem to happen unless I actually use IE.

    Hi Lance,

If you have a dual core processor then two instances of IE is normal.

    Regards....

Good thought, but no. This is a P4, 3.4g Extreme. Came out just before the dual core version. No other programs exhibit this issue. The "forceField" feature is supposed to use a second instance of IE, and it seems to do exactly that. It's just that after using IE, especially if opening additional windows within IE, the problem of not shutting down all instances.

Anyone know if the ZA folks monitor these forums?
