Default Can't get rid of virus

For almost 3 months now, Zonelab finds 10-14 files on my computer infected by "win32/looked!lNl".
After finding them, it says that everything has been fixed and no further action is necessary.
I'm assuming that the fact that this virus resurfaces everytime my computer is scanned is evidence that the anti-virus software never completely eliminates it.
I would be grateful for any advice or assistance on the matter.Thanks.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

In addition to what SC Pairofhearts suggested update your AV , turn off system restore, start your computer in safe mode and run a full scan When your done, start your computer normally , turn system restore back on and run another scan.
Good luck and let us know how this turns out.

Thanks for replying to my original question.
I followed the all of the suggestions.
    I scanned my computer
immediately after scanning in safe mode with the system restore off.
    This scan found no infection.
Unfortunately, I just scanned again (about a week later) and 14 files were found to be infected by previously mentioned virus.
Any next steps would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Alan

Sorry to hear that never worked. Try a few online scans using IE
    http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html

    http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/

Also try A-Squared and SuperAntispyware both are effective and free.
