    Default Win32.Coupons False Positive?

    Hello,

    Last night before I shut down my machine I did an anti-spyware scan. Today on start-up I performed an anti-spyware scan. ZASS informed me that I had the following:

    Win32.Coupons
    RegistryKey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{9522B3FB-7A2B-4646-8AF6-36E7F593073C}

    So I deleted it.

    About an hour later I decided to run another scan. Once again it tells me I have the following:
    Win32.Coupons
    RegistryKey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{9522B3FB-7A2B-4646-8AF6-36E7F593073C}

    Anyone else running into this issue?

    Thanks,
    Roger

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite
    Software Version:7.0

    Hello,

    I should also mention the following:

    1. Spyware Doctor did not find anything.

    2. My wife's machine also has ZA 7 and it too claims to find Win32.Coupons on every scan.

    Everything is updated, OS, Spyware Doctor, ZA....everything...

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Roger

    Hello,

    I just restarted my machine in safe mode and ran a scan. It found nothing in safe mode.

    Anyone have a clue as to why this is?

    Thanks,
    Roger

    Hello,

    Thank you for the help.

    I emailed ZASS support several days ago. I was hoping to hear something by now. It is a little frustrating that I have this great product but cannot talk with support.

    I will attempt the HJT log stuff you recommended.

    Thanks,
    Roger

    You're welcome but I find it odd tech support has not gotten back to you.
    Is it possible your e-mail provider has a spam filter and the response from support was never received? After you submitted a request from support you should of received an automatic response within minutes from Zonelabs.
    Did you receive an automatic response? If the anwer is no then there is a problem with the e-mail server . What you can do is use an alternate e-mail such as hotmail, gmail or yahoo to submit you're question. Tech support form here www.zonelabs.com/tsform

    Anyway,good luck to you.

    Hi when you go to castlecops or spywarwarrior and post a HJT log the experts there who are trained in this field will look over you're logs and be able to determine if the ZASS detecting a false positive or not. I have a feeling it is but I'm not positive. If you could let us know how all this turns out that would be great. Or if you need further assistance please post back.
    Take care
