I bought ZA IS only a couple of weeks ago and already my PC has been infected. Not a good start.
My son was using Windows Live Messenger and suddenly got a message from a 'friend' suggesting he look at a picture on a web site. Needless to say rather than check with his friend that it was genuine, he opened the link. I wasn't here so don't know exactly what happened but basically he got to the link in the message at which point the computer started misbehaving. After a few reboots, the computer is at least working, however, when I start Windows Live Messenger I get a message "msnmsgr.exe Unknown Publisher". I haven't allowed the machine to go past that point yet.
I've had a quick look on the web and it would seem this has happened before to others with some sort of virus sending similar messages to all the msn buddies of the infected machine. His friends machine was presumably infected.
I've run a virus scan which found a couple of unrelated spyware issues but nothing to do with the msnmsgr.exe. I suspect it is infected and need to fix it. Any suggestions?
