Thread: srvany is incorrectly flagged by ZASS version 7

Default srvany is incorrectly flagged by ZASS version 7

I recently update to ZASS version 7. The new antispyware/antivirus detects many more things than the previous one. Yet, many of the malwares, spywares, and viruses so detected are actually legitimate programs. One example is srvany which is a a nice little program that allows to run any program as a service in WinXP or NT... It was flagged as potential threat and proposed for deletion when I ran my first scan ... This is a problem that needs to be corrected OR ZA need to explain why the program is flagged (is its really a threat ?).

Hi!ZASS 7 is powered by Kaspersky antivirus. Kaspersky antivirus detects viruses/spyware/adware and riskware in general.Riskware is not malware per sebut programs that may be used for malicious purposes. They are marked as "not a virus".This is normal and by design. You can add it to the exclusion list ("ignore always"), if you would like them not to be detected.See here on the srvany detection: http://www.viruslist.com/en/find?sea...p;x=14&y=8 KAV is not the only AV flagging it....See here for more information about extended database:http://www.kaspersky.com/avupdateshttp://www.viruslist.com/en/riskwareYou can find description of viruses/adware/spyware/riskware detected by KAV at www.viruslist.com If you feel they are false positives, you can send files (zipped and password protected) to newvirus at kaspersky dot com. Subject: false positives.Include password in the e-mail. But be caferul to check that these files have been detected by Kaspersky and not by ZA antispyware. To report ZA antispyware false positive followthis link: http://www.zonealarm.com/store/conte...are_report.jspFax
