I've been having increasing problems with 100% CPU usage and noticed that vsmon.exe was using a fair bit. After a search I found a strange result - a password protected file, compressed and encrypted and
modified 5 days earlier (by whom??). The file VSMON.EXE-1609C098.pf is in the C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch folder. I've tried to find something out about this with no result. Can anyone give me an idea of what this file is? I know that vsmon.exe is the firewall engine. On my hard disk there are copies of it in C;\WINDOWS\system32\; C:\Program Files\ZoneLabs; WINDOWS/System 32/Zone Labs; and Pogram Files/Zone Labs/Zone Alarm. Is all this OK?
I run Zone Alarm Security suite 7.0.483.000, OS Windows XP. I recently downloaded Free Download Manager. Thanks, Margaret
