Default Annoying Zone Alarm Service Agent Pop-Up

I have been seeing an annoying Zone Alarm service agent pop-up.
It says I should check for an update because the conficker worm is supposed to cause damage on April 1st 2009.
The ZA service agent pops up randomly, and closes
    if I shut down
    ZA.
It has the appearance of an older version of ZA.

Shortly after clicking on the service agent, which never seemed to download or update anything, I was infected with Spy Protect 2009.
I cleaned that with Malwarebytes, and ran a number of other programs including root-kit checkers.
Zone Alarm is updated and everything appears to be clean.
However this pop-up still comes up, and will show up even if the automatic updates function is disabled.

    I clicked
the popup on another computer and it was similarly infected.
I took that PC through the same process.
    But I now
    have
two computers that register as clean with ZA anti-virus and Malwarebyte's latest version.

However, this ZA service agent pop-up still shows up.
It is annoying, out of date,
and now I associate it with a Spy Protect 2009 infection (whether rightly or wrongly).

    Has anyone run into this?
Is there a way to disable the pop-up?
Should I be getting it even if it is not a sympton of an infection?
Is it a known symptom of an infiection?
It doesn't seem to Google as one.

Here is an image of the popup,

    Operating System:
    Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:
    8.0
    Product Name:
    ZoneAlarm Antivirus

    Fax,
    Thanks for the advice.
I was running the most recent version of ZA.
In fact the pop-up appeared yesterday just after I manually updated the program.

I uninstalled ZA using the cleaning software you
suggested and then reinstalled the latest version of ZA anti-virus and performed an update.
So far no pop-up, but I'll wait a day or two before I assume it's been settled.

What still puzzles me is that this pop-up is on
    two
computers (work and home), that have very different uses.
If this were a common ZA issue I would expect it to be commonly discussed in this forum or other places on the Internet.

I think I will check with ZA tech support and see if they are aware of the pop-up.
