    Default Access to Internet

On winXP I have allowed access to the following programs for windows(Of course, I have allowed access to many programs that I have installed)
    (a) Generic Host Process for win32 services
    (b) Spooler subsystem App
I want to know whether this is OK ??

    2. I am also operating win98SE and when I boot the windows it seeks permission for "Distributed COM services to accept connection from the internet". Should it be allowed ??

On the first two, it is fine to allow internet access and you may even need to grant Generic Host Process For Win32 Services 'server' rights to the Trusted zone (but not Internet zone).

I would not grant Distributed COM services the right to act as a server. Many programs are written to ask for server rights even though they are not needed for the application to function properly.
