    Default Win32.Trojan.Spy.Goldun.BY

After I updated to the latest version 6.5 with Zonealarm Security, I ran a spyware scan. 9 hours have since passed and the scan is still running. It is stuck on scanning the item listed as "Win32.Spy.Goldun.BY" Does this mean that my laptop is infected with this worm? Since Zonealarm wasn't getting very far, I decided to run CounterSpy as well. It too is still running it's scan, with no end in sight. So my security programs are ineffective..none of them ever finish their scans, they just keep running..I have not turned off or restarted the laptop yet, I'm still letting them run. What should I do? Is this really a trojan or is it possible it's merely a problem with the new Zonealarm update?

    Hi,

    Download Ewido

    http://www.ewido.net/en/

After the installaton, search for updates and download any available. Start your computer in safe mode , open Ewido, press scanner, complete system scan, fix anything that is found, next run a full virus scan also fix any problems you have. Restart your computer normally and run some more scans with Ewido and your virus scanner, to make sure your clean. If after the second round of scans the trojan still exist we will have to turn off system restore , go back into safe mode again going through the same procedure as before but see if this works first.

Hope this info has helped you.

Thanks, I will try that. I may not be able to download anything though, becuause my computer is running VERY slowly. I DID restart it in SafeMode already and have been running Zonealarm's virus + spyware scan there. The problem is it's been scanning for 12 hours and has only managed to scan 2,500 files (there are 50,000 files to be scanned). At this rate it may take days before the scans are complete. I will try for Ewido, thanks. My question is, does this mean our credit card info has been compramised? Do we have to change our accounts now? We did quite a bit of shopping online and always kept our security software up to date.

Hi panbarrick, Reference to your questions, that's your decision, but if it was ME, I SURE WOULD NOT WAIT FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN AND I WOULD DO WHATEVER I HAVE TO DO TO PROTECT MYSELF. Now, you need to stop the scanning with Zone Alarm, because it DOES NOT take 12 hours to scan your computer. You really need to download Ewido and a few others to make SURE you are COMPLETELY CLEAN. Here arethree sites, that I use also to cross check my security programs, if you are interested. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan eTrust Antivirus Web Scanner

Panbarrick Please, the wisest thing is to contact your credit card issuers and advise them of possible security leaks. This is a variation of password/credit card number stealer, along with an apparent download of some virus.

Hi, thanks for the help. I did download ewido as well as windowsecurity and all scans came up saying my computer was clean, detecting nothing. Zonealarm antivirus and antispyware appear to be functioning normally now as well. Is it possible this wasn't the worm/trojan afterall? That there was a glitch in zonealarm itself that caused the problems? Zonealarm was acting funny just prior; alerting me to update to version 6.5 which I'd already done. Also inconsistancies with number of days left in my subscription, it kept changing it's mind of the number..I'd like to believe this, becuase if there is some kind of trojan on our system, it's not showing up in the scans. Computer APPEARS to function normally now..Is there any other definitive way to tell if I'm infected or should I just reformat the whole thing and start clean?
