    Default Unknown traffic when idle

I have ZoneAlarm Security Suite version:6.5.722.000 running on two PCs. Both my PC are running XP SP2 and donwload meter installed.Even when the PCs are idle and not running anything, download metershows about 31.5 kbps dowload and upload traffic. I havetraced it to a svchosts.exe thread which when killed stops the traffic. Everything works fine except the sound devices vanish and when you double click the sound icon on the task bar or go into sound devices in the control panel, I get a pop up saying:There are no mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to control panel, click printers and other hardware, and then click add hardware.I am not sure what the traffic is. Can anyone help pelase?

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite
    Software Version:6.5

It could just be your ISP sending a 'heartbeat' to see if you are there. I'd not worry about it; computers are very chatty machines even when not in use.

Killing system processes is a bad idea. Can you check what the traffic for that process is via your program or netstat?
