Default MS Security Center Disabled - does ZoneAlarm do this?

I run Spybot as one of my adware defense programs. It gave me a message that the Microsoft Security Center had been disabled by a registry change. does Zonealarm (free version is what i use) do that to take over the scurity functions, or is something else going on? same thing has occurred on 2 of my home PCs, both running spybot and free zonealarm.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)
    Software Version:6.5

ZoneAlarm does not disable the whole security center,it only disables the firewall part of that center, but the MS firewall also recognises that ZA is installed and will disable itself. You can always re-enable the Security Center thru the services in MS,and then reboot see if it disables again,if so I would say its another program disabling it,as ZA only is supposed to disable the MS Firewall with a Reg change.

Did you previously have McAfee or Norton products installed?

actually, i have norton systemworks 2006 installed on both machines. after i posted my original question it occurred to me that maybe norton was disabling the Security Center. is that a possibility?

I had the same thing happen to me when checking with Spybot, I went into services and enabled it as FlyYourWay stated and haven't had a problem since . I don't know how long it was disabled so I have no idea what caused it. I did upgradeNortonAV 2005to 2006 and that may have done it , I am just watching it closer to see if it happens again and if it does I will let you know the cause Tasman

Norton Protection Center is installed on both pcs. If i'm getting what u im[ply, then that program WOULD turn off the Windows Security Center, so i think u've answered my question. thx, very much.
