I am running ZoneAlarm Security Suite version 7.0.337.000.
Does that version of ZoneAlarm protect against rootkit malware?
    Thanks, Jim

Yes. ZA suite has multiple layers of defense - real time, pro-active, inhibitive of most malware out there. You can read this test review by PCMag -dated 1-25-07 -,00.asp - . It goes without saying- safe surfing habits, updated software and additional/supplemental security software will solidify your pc security.

    Dear jwaf:

Not for resident rootkits on your hard drive though the firewall, if configured properly, will prevent anyone from the Internet installing them remotely on your hard drive.

Many antispyware utilities now have rootkit detection built in to their scanners. In addition, there are freeware detectors out on the Internet to download and install:

    1) v.1.71
    2) Rootkit Eliminator

    Hope this helps.

    is a good source.

Gmer and RKU are good for finding and removing rootkits. Very powerful and it is best to be very careful when using tools of this nature.

IceSword is good, although difficult to use.

    Best regards.

    Best regards.
