Default Zonealarm and Windows Security Center

I have Zonealarm 7.0.462 on a machine with Windows XP HomeEdition. The program is a very good firewall, but it keepsturning off the feature in Windows Security Center thatinforms me if my virus protection program is not turned onand up to date. It shouldn't do that unless you are payingfor the Zonealarm anti-virus monitoring. For Zonealarm todo it when you are not is compromising security. I haveSymantec Antivirus 9 installed and have scanned my systemfor viruses that might be doing it and have none. Has anyone else had this problem?

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:7.0

In the Windows XP Security Center, under resources, if youclick "Change the way Security Center alerts me," it can beseen that ZoneAlarm keeps unchecking the "Virus Protection"box. This is fine if you paid for the anti-virus monitoringof ZoneAlarm. However, when the free program does this itdecreases security against viruses. This is a bug in anotherwise great program that I hope will be fixed in futureversions.

Sorry but that is not a ZoneAlarm Bug..That is a Cosmetic Flaw in Windows..usually this can be fixed by simply:1. Right click on the ZA icon near the clock and shutdown ZA2. Wait 2-3 minutes3. Start ZA from all programs --> ZoneAlarm --> ZoneAlarm Security---------------------------------If that does not work then Try this..go to the ZA firewall tab, move the Internet firewall slider to OFF then move it back to HIGH.Does it work now?--------If it does not work then Ignore Windows Security Center as long as ZAFree Overview/Main page shows that you are Protected..--------------------------------------------------------

I tried your suggestions, and it still does the same thing. It seems to uncheck the box in Windows security center about once a day. My antivirus program has a system tray icon that lets me know it's working, and so this is no big deal to me. I just thought it was a minor program flaw in ZoneAlarm
that could be corrected in future versions. Thanks.

By Default, ZoneAlarm Turns off Windows Firewall in Windows Security Center..

Just One, Not Two -- Never use two software Firewalls at the same time.
Just One, Not Two -- Never use two Anti-virus products at the same time.

If Windows Security Centry is no showing ZoneAlarm as the Active Firewall, try this..usually this can be fixed by simply:1. Right click on the ZA icon near the clock and shutdown ZA2. Wait 2-3 minutes3. Start ZA from all programs --> ZoneAlarm --> ZoneAlarm Security

also double check that the windows firewall is OFF.
XP control panel --> Security Center --> Push on 'Windows Firewall" --> Double check that "OFF (not recommended)" is CHECKED.

It turns out that Symantec antivirus is doing this itself, as this website explains. ZoneAlarm is innocent. http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...f&view=ppfdocs
