This is either a new exploit or a buggy Microsoft software fix. IN ANY EVENT,
the updated system is now incompatible with zone alarm firewall.
This is a BREACH!
I spoke with my ISP; Verizon. They tracked the problem down by disabling my firewall.
They were at least helpful enough to enable the Microsoft firewall which I have no confidence
in and believe is an inferior product.
Two calls to Microsoft and attempting to chat with Microsoft support at about 4 am EST was
unsuccessful in resolving the issue. I got the typical run around.
First, Verizon gave me 800-936-5700 to call; then I got 866-PC-SAFETY;
after talking to a rep there for an hour I was finally told that his was
not "a virus or spyware" problem.
I have yet to call another department at Microsoft [800-936-5700] for
free support. They open at 5am-9pm PT.
