Thread: Firewall Log Viewer is blank?

    Default Firewall Log Viewer is blank?

    Why is my "Firewall" Log Viewer blank? All the other Alert Types have something in them, except for "Firewall."

    I looked at the Firewall Security statistics and it shows:
    Inbound 0
    Outbound 247

    How can I have "zero" Inbound attempts?
    I have never had "zero" Inbound attempts until I got my new Vista computer.

    Either you're using a non 8.0.298 version or you got a router which blocks inbound attempts or Vista firewall blocks inbounds. Are you running two firewalls at the same time?

    According to the Security Center, ZoneAlarm is the only firewall that is running.
    I am not connected through a router. I am on Dial-Up through ATT. My XP computer got plenty of hits from the Internet when it was connected through the same connection.
    I am running the latest version of ZoneAlarm. It was downloaded and install about a week ago.
    This problem has been persistent for some time, going back to version 7.

    It sounds like your ZA Database may be corrupted.

    ZA has incorparated a new way to Reset DataBase files so users don't need to go into Safe mode.

    To repair this problem, please follow the steps below. Please note that
    this will remove your program permission settings (so you may want to make
    note of them), but re-establishing them is a simple process.

    1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together then

    2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock in the system tray lower right corner
    3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
    4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
    5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
    6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

    I went though that process a couple of days ago. While it resulted in some strange things happening with other programs, it did not have any effect on the Firewall Alert Logs, they are still blank.

    Any other ideas?
