    Default BSOD

    Hello,

    Last night, while I was online surfing, my computer went BSOD right when I was clicking to a website.

    I thought I was thoroughly protected with ZA and a few other security programs.

    What does this mean? How did someone/something shut down my computer?

    What should I do to inspect my computer?

    Thanks,
    CJ

    <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>Unfortunately, While Most Security Programs can do a faily good job of protecting the Computer..The Program can not Protect the Computer from mistakes and Unsafe practices of the Human behind the keyboard.. 1.) Unless your using Protected Virtual Browser add-on with ZA ForceField.. Any time you click on a Pop-up or click on anything on a Web-site,In order to See the Images and "Html" code from that web-site, the Browser must download thise pictures, icons and text files to your Computer Temp file Directory, and without your knowledge, many other things can be transfered to your computer in both directions..2.) Since you have given Your Browser Access to the Internet Thru the ZoneAlarm firewall, Usually if ZoneAlarm detects something, it pops up an alert.."do you really want to do this", You click Yes or OK, "I want that Free Game, Music, oe see what's behind door Number 2.. :-)You may have just by-passed the Security protection and infected your Computer..3.) here is a recomended proceedure to check for Malware..Try to perform a full Antivirus/Antispyware scan but in SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING.

    1. Disable system restore; 2. Set ZA antispyware to "Deep inspection scan" under the advanced options on ZA antivirus/antispyware tab (detection);
    3. Reboot in SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING;
    4. Manual run ZASS (ZA firewall will be OFF but Antivirus/Antispyware will be functional);
    5. Run a full ZA AV/AS scan;
    5. Reboot in Normal Mode
    6. Set ZA antispyware back to recommended settings ("Intelligent quick scan")7. Ensable System restore

    Thanks George.

    I did install a flash player from a network TV site around that time.

    My ZA did indicate that Apple Bonjour access was blocked a number of times around the time of shutoff.

    And lastly, my admin event log indicates something about logging in my admin account, while I was in my limited account.

    So it might also be one of these things.

    How likely could it be that some random person was trying to &quot;sabotage&quot; my computer in real-time? (Sorry, not trying to be paranoid, just wondering).

    No, apparently not.

    I booted up in Safe Mode. Ran Spybot Search &amp; Destroy, Spyware Doctor, and ZA Spyware.

    Nothing showed up.

    Right now, I'm running ZA AV.
