    Default trouble accessing outlook express after ZA upgrade

    i can't access emails on outlook express. i click on the outlook icon and nothing happens. dr watson postmortem debugger is active as well as the outlook express in the program control but there's no error msg on the dr watson debugger and no outlook express.

    Software Version:6.5

    Hi,

    PLEASE how did you setup your programs when you installed Zone Alarm, by manually or let Zone Alarm configured them for you?

    You should have two green checkmarks under the ACCESS TAB (Trusted/Internet) in the Programs Control Panel of your firewall,next tothe Outlook Express entry,do you have that?

    I have had the same problem with this latest upgrade! I am frustrated....to connect to the internet, I have to close ZoneAlarm and then reopen, after I have connected! Someone please help!...and yes, there are two green check marks by Outlook Express in the Access for Trusted and Internet!

    yes, i have both green check marks on trust and internet on the access columns. i also have a check on enable passthru.

    Go to your Program control in Zone Alarm and see if you have the proper permissions for Generic Host Process For Win32 Services. This application should have 'access' granted in both zones and 'server' rights in the Trusted zone (first 3 columns with green checks). You should put a red X next to it under server rights-Internet zone.

    PLEASE try the following fix, if it does not fix the problem, PLEASE post back, Thanks.

    A database reset will fix the problem if Zone Alarm is the problem in the first place. Reset the database this way; you will lose your customizations and will need to reconfigure Zone Alarm.

    1. Boot your computer into the Safe Mode. {Instructions if needed}
    2. Navigate to the c:\windows\internet logs folder.
    3. Delete the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files in the folder.
    4.Reboot into the normal mode.

    followed all the instructions. got the outlook to work, however when i enabled the junk email filter, outlook didn't work. back to square one still, thanks for the help. you've been super)

    hope you're following the posts. a reset will wipe out all the customizations. back to square one for me. wish for the best

    I think I did it manually, which took some time....yes, I haveall green check marks by the Outlook Express, across the line.

    I do have the proper permissions (first 3 are green check marks; next one is red check mark).
