Default 24/7 computer loses internet access weekly

I've got a computer running WinXP Pro and ZA Suite 7.0.337 that is on 24/7 used
almost solely as a file server on a small network.
Before updating to 7.0.337 I was having trouble with
once every week or two, this computer losing the ability to connect through the network to the internet, but local network connections remained active.
After I updated to 7.0.337, I thought I had the problem solved because it didn't happen again.
    However, now the
"quiet period" after installation has elapsed and this morning I found that the internet connection is down.
What usually draws my attention to this is that
an online backup icon changes from green to yellow and says that its "waiting for an internet connection".
When I attempt to go online with IE7 I get a dns error message and no other programs, like AV updates are able to connect.
Rebooting the computer fixes the problem.
    I'm wondering if there's a
    program that is
asking for permission to run that's happening when I'm not around to notice it, that is stopping the internet connectivity dead in its tracks.
Any suggestions as to what might be causing this?

    Hi

    Have you done these steps?

Make sure your DNS and DHCP server IP's are in your Firewall's Trusted zone. Finding DNS and DCHP servers, etc

    1. Go to Run type in command , hit 'ok', and type ipconfig /all then press enter. In the returned data list will be a line DNS and DHCP Servers with the IP address(s) listed out to the side.
    2. In ZA on your machine on the Firewall>Zones tab click Add and then select IP Address. Make sure the Zone is set to Trusted.
    3. Click OK and then Apply and see if that works to fix it.
    4. The localhost (127.0.0.1) must be listed as Trusted.
    5. The Generic Host Process (svchost.exe) must have server rights for the Trusted Zone.
Plus it must have both Trusted and Internet Access.

Extra help is found at Guru Hoov site for the DNS/DHCP.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
I'll give it a try and see how long it stays connected.
    DHCP was already "trusted".
I've added both DNS addresses to the "trusted" zone.

Yesterday was one week after my original post about losing internet access weekly, and at around 3:45pm the computer "almost" locked up.
The Monitor.exe application (appears to be zonealarm related) was consuming
97% of CPU processes and slowed the computer to such a crawl I couldn't get it to shut down.
I ultimately had to do a hard reboot.
    I don't see monitor.exe
listed in the Program Control list so I don't think it would be behind the internet access problem I reported.
    Think this is just
happenstance, or is there a connection?

Monitor.exe can be from Acer, a PC monitor component, some other hardware-related component, besides being part of from Windows or some other software. It can be from the Zone Alarm (W I N D O W S \ system32 \zonelabs \avsys \monitor.exe)

You may want to upgrade to the latest ZAISS from here. The 408 has less issues than the previous 337 and is much improved.

Thanks for the heads up about the update.
My copy is still saying its up-to-date at 337.
Clicking "check for update" also reports system up to date.
    Hmm.
Maybe that's one of the fixes.

The 408 seems to run smoother, faster startups and shutdowns and seems in general to be better. Oldsod

    My
problem with the internet locking up weekly hasn't happened again since making the DNS addresses trusted.
However, it seems that the problem has morphed a bit
on the same weekly pattern, usually Wednesdays around 3:30pm, the Monitor.exe, ScanningProcess, or vsmon will go nutso to 100% cpu usage.
That usually lasts at least an hour.
There are no schedule tasks at that time, and the system isn't set for schedule antivirus scanning.
Is there something else ZA related that might be making those processes try to run every week at that time?
