Default Windows automatic updates and zonealarm

    Hello everybody.

In the other day i was cleaning my zonealarm program list, and deleted several programs with the name install/uninstall/setup.
    I didn
t notice if they are all with "?" or if they have some permissions.
    My question is:
Could i have deleted a program that controls the windows automatic updates?
Can you give me the name(s) of the program(s) that allow windows automatic update to function and it
    s permissions?

Thanks a lot for your future (i hope) answers

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

If indeed you did erase the settings for the automatic updates you will be asked upon the next running of said program. You didn't indeed erase the program but instead erased the way that zone alarm should handle the program. Zone alarm by default will ask for permission for any NEW programs which it will be if removed from the list. Hope it helps...

    Dear cavecave:

The name of the program as it appears in the Programs tab of the Program Control panel is this:

    Windows Update Automatic Updates

SmartDefense Advisor assigned the following permissions:

    Trust Level-3 green bars(Super)
    Access-Trusted-red X(Block)
    Access-Internet-red X(Block)
    Server-Trusted-red X(Block)
    Server-Internet-red X(Block)
    Send Mail-red X(Block)

    Hope this helps.
