Default Free Zonealarm + New Windows 2000 install - update fails

    Hello,
I installed ZoneAlarm 7.0.408.000 on a fresh install of Windows 2000. Every so often a message pops up which is something like:
    "updclient.exe - Missing file
cannot find the file msvcp60.dll in <a bunch of paths>"

I checked and I don't have msvcp60.dll. Obviously this is an oversight in the zonealarm installer. Are there any plans to release an update with this file?

I downgraded to ZoneAlarm 6.1.737.000 and everything works fine, although it does want me to update to the newest version now...

    Thanks

    Operating System:Windows 2000 Pro
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

Some missing C functions in Windows.
I don't know if this'll help, but read it, as they say how to repair Windows

Thanks for the reply... but I think this is a different problem because the error message is completely different. It's not a missing export, but rather a missing dll file.

msvcp60.dll is a Microsoft (R) Visual C++ Runtime Library file.

    Size:404 KB (413,696 bytes)
Size on disk:176 KB (180,224 bytes)
    Company:Microsoft Corporation
    File Version:6.02.3104.0
    Product version:6.02.3104.0

    Found in (windows xp sp2):

    Windows\system32

    Windows\system32\dllcache

    Windows\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.Tools.VisualCPlusPlus .Runtime-Libraries_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.0.0_x-ww_ff9986d7

    Windows\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.Tools.VisualCPlusPlus .Runtime-Libraries_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.9792.0_x-ww_08a6620a

It is supposed to come with Windows 2000. It is not bundled with the ZA installer and it has to be with the operating system by default, not the ZA installer.

See http://support.microsoft.com/default...9403#appliesto for links for obtaining the C++ packs or just try a system file check to get file installed in the windows directory.

I will install that vcredist.exe, thank you.

But I'm confused that you would say the DLL comes with with Windows 2000. Obviously not - I have a brand new install from CD, and ZoneAlarm was the first program I installed, before even plugging in the network cable.

It should have been by looking at several of the Microsoft kb.
Maybe the install missed something. But regardless, the original CD does not have all of the updates or latest packs that are available - even the windows update usually does not include many of the extras (just the basics) packs.
The main point it should be working properly.
