Default Free ZoneAlarm Blocks Firefox

A few nights ago Firefox updated to 2.0.0.8. Since ZA treats this as a new program, I had to approve the updated Firefox's access to the Internet. I think I did it correctly, but I must not have. ZA will not allow Firefox to access the Internet. I see in the ZAlog.txt file

PE,2007/10/21,20:00:06 -5:00 GMT,Firefox,C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe,127.0.0.1:1139,N/A
PE,2007/10/21,20:00:14 -5:00 GMT,Firefox,C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe,133.40.7.126:53,N/A
ACCESS,2007/10/21,20:00:16 -5:00 GMT,Firefox was temporarily blocked from connecting to the Internet (133.40.7.126NS).,N/A,N/A
PE,2007/10/21,20:00:20 -5:00 GMT,Firefox,C:PE,2007/10/22,20:52:00 -5:00 GMT,Firefox,C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe,66.195.173.137:53,N/A\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe,63.245.213.32:53,N/A

ACCESS,2007/10/22,20:43:04 -5:00 GMT,Firefox was blocked from connecting to the Internet (38.99.77.34NS).,N/A,N/A

I have checked the "programs" tab in ZA, and firefox.exe has two green check marks for the Internet access. I have changed the check marks to question marks, but ZA does not prompt me for access. I have even removed firefox.exe and re-added it, but ZA still will not allow Firefox to access the Internet.
I am using the latest ZA Free on XP Pro with a current XP patch level.

After the removal of the Firefox in the ZA list, did you reboot and then open the Firefox?
Are the DHCP and DNS servers IP's listed as trusted in the zones of the firewall? Does it have the 127.0.0.1 (localhost) included?
Does the generic host process (svchost.exe) have access to the trusted and internet and rights for the trusted server?
Does the firefox have three green bars and have access to the trusted and internet and rights for the trusted server?
Do the other browser work?
Do the email clients work?
Are there any addons or extensions for Firefox such as the web accelerator, no scripts, cookie blockers, etc/

================================================== ====================

I am not sure what the nslookups and traceroute have to do with this problem. I have no DNS problems, as far as I can tell.

>After the removal of the Firefox in the ZA list, did you reboot and

>then open the Firefox?

I did not reboot. I assumed that when I removed Firefox from the ZA list and then re-added it, this change would not require a reboot.

I have terminated and restarted Firefox. I did do a reboot in trying to debug this problem, but I am sure I did not do it between removing

Firefox from the ZA Programs Access list and re-adding it.

I removed Firefox from the ZA Program access list, then I rebooted XP.

Upon reboot, Firefox is listed in the ZA Program access list with two green check marks (Access) and two question marks (Trusted).

After the reboot, Firefox still has no access to the Internet.

>Are the DHCP and DNS servers IP's listed as trusted in the zones of the

>firewall? Does it have the 127.0.0.1 (localhost) included?

The DNS server IPs are listed in the trusted zone.

I believe that the DHCP server is not.

127.0.0.1 is listed in the trusted zone.

>Does the generic host process (svchost.exe) have access to the trusted

>and internet and rights for the trusted server?

Generic Host Process for Win32 (svchost, exe) has three green check marks

and one red X (Server Internet).

>Does the firefox have three green bars and have access to the trusted

>and internet and rights for the trusted server?

Firefox has four green check marks for the Internet. It did have two question marks for Server (Trusted and Internet), but I changed those two to check marks. See above - after the reboot it has two green check marks (Access) and two question marks (Server).

>Do the other browser work?

IE7 works without any problem.

>Do the email clients work?

I have not tried an e-mail client.

>Are there any addons or extensions for Firefox such as the web

>accelerator, no scripts, cookie blockers, etc/

I have a few add-ons for Firefox, but none in the categories listed.

And I did not install any new add-ons when I updated Firefox from 2.0.0.7 to 2.0.0.8.

I just ran another test.
I turned off ZoneAlarm, and I started Ethereal packet trace.
I tried to reload a Firefox page that could not load, and I got the same message.
There were NO packets traced.
I then tried to sync the clock.
I did get a good time sync with time.windows.com, something that I am unable to do with ZA running.
I did get a few NTP packets traced.
I have seen via Google searches that ZA does not allow NTP packets, but that is the subject for a different posting.
I have no idea why I get no outbound packets from Firefox with ZA off.
I tried IE7 (still with ZA off), and I got packets traced, and IE7 was able to connect to the Internet.
There are no messages in ZAlog.txt, as that file does not exist.
The last ZAlog file is from last night.
With ZA off, I thought I would get a warning message from XP that I had no active firewall.
I think that in the past I have received such warnings, but I have not received one.
Do these data give anyone any clues as to what might be happening?
Thanks.

I found the problem.
It was Trend Micro PC-cillin personal firewall that had Firefox blocked.
