Default Limited or no connectivity after installing ZA 7.0.408.000

After I upgraded to ZA Security Suite
    v 7.0.408.000
on a desktop I cannot connect to the Internet and have a message on the Local Area Connection icon
    indicating "Limited or no connectivity".
When I attempt to Repair this connection it says -
"Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action could not be completed: Renewing your IP address"
I have a Westell Versalink Model 327W wireless that I am able to use and connect to the Internet via a laptop and a Mac.
These machines do not have ZA installed.
When I execute ipconfig /all, I see the following:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 4:Physical Address with valid valuesDHCP Enabled = YesAutoconfiguration Enabled = YesA valid Autoconfiguration IP address valueA valid Subnet Mask valueDefault Gateway has no value
Ethernet adapter:Physical address with valid valuesDHCP Enabled = NoNo IP addressNo Subnet MaskNo Defualt Gateway
When I try ipconfig /renew I get:"An error occured while renewing interface Local Area Connection 4: An operation was attempted on
something that is not a socket.
No operation can be performed on Network Connect Adapter while it has its media disconnected"
In ZA --> Firewall --> Main I have the following entries:Name

Appreciate any insight into addressing this issue.
    Thanks in advance

I'm having this same problem with my system reporting not able to renew IP address and Limited or no connectivity. Only restarting my system allows me to reconnect to the internet.
I've tried everything I can think of including upgrading modem, uninstalling/reinstalling NIC, uninstalling/reinstalling ZoneAlarm. Only disabling ZoneAlarm is a clear fix. I'd rather not run without a firewall. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to configure ZoneAlarm to make this work? TIA

    Hi,

    Welcome to the Forum!

I am very sorry that you are having issues with ZA and hopefully I will be able to help you find a solution.

PLEASE try the following, as this will bring the firewall back to the original settings.

I think is your Zone Alarm database has gotten corrupt and does not remember your Zones settings. Reset your database and see if that will fix it. Reset the database this way; you will lose your customizations and will need to reconfigure Zone Alarm.

MAKE SURE you remove ALL the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files.

Reset the database this way; you will lose your customizations and will need to reconfigure Zone Alarm.

    1. Boot your computer into the Safe Mode.

    2. Navigate to the c:\windows\internet logs folder.

    3. Delete the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files in the folder.

    4.Then empty the Recycle Bin.

    5. Reboot into the normal mode.

How Do I Boot Into Safe Mode?

Oops, sorry, apparently I broke all the rules. Fortunately I found a solution which is working very nicely. I followed the instructions here: http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/b...ssage.id=32161
OneWorld, perhaps the above instructions will work for you also. Good luck.

    Appreciate the prompt response.
Unfortunately, deleting those files did not alleviate the issue.
After the normal re-boot, ZA detected a new network that I accepted with the following details
    169.254.0.0 / 255.255.0.0
Additionally, I need to now explicitly login into my Verizon Online WAN Miniport (PPOE) to establish a network.
When I do this ZA adds the following entry to the Zone.
If I disconnect Verizon Online, the entry disappears from the Zones tab.
    70.19.249.180 / 255.255.255.255
The above two entries are all I have under Firewall --> Zones tab
When I execute ipconfig / all now I see the following details:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 4:Physical Address with valid valuesDHCP Enabled = YesAutoconfiguration Enabled = YesA valid Autoconfiguration IP address valueA valid Subnet Mask valueDefault Gateway has no value
Ethernet adapter:Physical address with valid valuesDHCP Enabled = NoNo IP addressNo Subnet MaskNo Defualt Gateway

    70.19.249.180DNS Servers:

    71.243.0.12

    71.250.0.12
Any additional help/insight into addressing this issue is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers

For Step 2 in the URL provided, where do I get the DHCP and DNS IP addresses from?
Is it from the PPP Adapter Verison Online details, which by the way only show a pair of IP address only for DNS servers.
There is nothing for DHCP address.
    I completed 4 - 5 without issue, but need to compelete 2 & 3 before I can test it.
    Thanks
