    Default IE won't start...

Newbie on the forum. I've been using ZAISS with Vista for a while now. Its been working fine until yesterday when I made a config change and now IE refuses to start. Internet connection is fine. There was a ZOnealarm alert that was bothering us for a while. The alert used to come up everytime we started to type in a new URL in IE. Alert used to say "Internet Explorer is trying to monitor keystrokes, etc and if I should allow it". I used to click YES but never made a permanent change. Yesterday, I DENIED it and made it permanent. Not realizing what I did, this morning, IT won't start. The only way I can get it to work is if I shutdown Zonealarm from the system tray. Has anybody seen this before? How do I get out of this now? Thanks for the help.

    Operating System:Windows Vista Home Premium
    Software Version:7.1 (Vista)
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

    Hi!
yes, its normal and you should allow IE to monitor keystrokes.

Go to ZA program control and set all IE items you find to "super trusted" (three green bars)

I have a question about the
    wisdom of
letting IE monitor keystrokes. It seemed appropriate that ZA would alert you to this behavior as a potential security risk.
and you are giving IE three bars... Is this a good thing?
I don't doubt that it will solve the problem stated,,, but it seems a little risky. Why is IE demanding this type of behavior.?
    ThankRoger

When you go to give IE three bars....ZA gives you the following message:
"By changing this setting you are allowing thisprogram unrestricted access to your system. This could expose you to supicious behavior.
Are you sure you want to do this?"
This seems like good advice to me.
Is there a less drastic solution?
    ThanksRoger

Hi!yes, its normal. You need to give Super trusted permission otherwise it will not work as it should.Either you trust the browser you are using or it is better you use an alternative one.Cheers,Fax

The following is from Zone Alarm Technical Support 1/21/07.
It recommends a most less drastic, more secure
    solution that works.
In doing a ADD, ZA resets the security based upon their best
uptodate input about a particular program. It
incorporates the best recommendations for each program. To learn more about how this is done and why ... read the HELP from Zone Alarm. If you use Zone Alarm, you should need to be able to trust their security experts...or you can trust someone else.
You can get tech support the same as I did by email.

    from their web site.
    "
    Hello Roger,
Thank you for contacting ZoneAlarm technical support.
I understand that Internet Explorer will not run when ZoneAlarm is running. You may have clicked the deny button on a ZoneAlarm alert, and this may
    have caused this issue.
Please open ZoneAlarm, click program control -> programs, and then right-
click and remove Internet Explorer. Please close and open Internet Explorer, allow any ZoneAlarm alerts, and
see if this resolves this issue."-----------------------------Roger-----------------------------------------

    Re: ZA reply, I'm quoting:

"I understand that Internet Explorer will not run when ZoneAlarm is running."

Whoever wrote it, did NOT understand anything.
Your IE runs. It issues the usual alert about monitoring keystrokes and stuff.

The message about giving it 3 bars is standard. Give it two and/or live with the alert and/or stop using IE!

In any case, nothing to worry about. Just a nuisance. It has to do with mouse pointing menu items and such things. Curiously, there is no such monitoring in other applications??
