thanks for getting back to me ,we
have only had Internet for 3 weeks so have not needed any protection, the only thing we had was avg free and or **bleep** anti-virus. I have been digging around and found -updlog.txt, near the bottom it says "update failed. update operation failed to establish connection to proxy server". is that me or Za, I can download from microsoft etc with no problem.thanks:8}

Hi!Do you use proxy server??Or did you install a software to speed-up/ompimize your connection?If not, your problems is this:"user defined URL http://kav.zonelabs.com/, proxy enabled
user defined URL
http://kav.zonelabs.com/, proxy enabled
user defined URL
http://kav.zonelabs.com/, proxy enabled"
it should read instead:"user defined URL http://kav.zonelabs.com/, proxy disabled
user defined URL http://kav.zonelabs.com/, proxy disabled
user defined URL http://kav.zonelabs.com/, proxy disabled"Check your internet settings... go to tools --> Internet options --> Connections --> LAN settings --> it should be on "automatically detect settings"Check also under ZA overview preferences --> Options --> UNcheck (if checked) the proxy settingsIf everything is normal then a previous program has messed up with the registry proxy settings.Cheers,Fax

As already told you, from your Internet Explorer:go to tools --> Internet options --> Connections --> LAN settings --> it should be on "automatically detect settings" Check also under ZA overview preferences --> Options --> UNcheck (if checked) the proxy settingsScroll you programs (under add/remove program) and check if you see anything like a firewall or network control device.If all of this fails I am afraid I have no other suggestion than a fresh reinstall of the OS, update it with latest patches and install ZA, then everything else.Cheers,Fax

You're welcome!And sorry if I could not propose a better solution!If you do a reinstall, please try the following:- Reinstall the OS- Activate Windows firewall- Download ALLwindows patches/updates (windows updates)- Install ZA (check that it works as it should)- Install all therest (and if you can, pleaseavoid to install other security tools on top of ZASS)Cheers,Fax
