Default Guess What :( KB951748 also breaks the privacy / Ad blocking !

    uninstalled KB951748
and all okay now for both issues.
guess I will have to wait for a fix b4 I can install but either MS or ZA need to move quick on this issue as it is not good having to uninstall a security patch but I don't want to lose my parental controls or mobile code blocking

    Operating System:
    Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:
    7.0
    Product Name:
    ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

    Thank for the bad news.
If the updates are wrecking the parental controls and the privacy, even I can figure out what was changed by the update and needs to be worked on for things to work.

We have been working with MS over night on the issue. We are very confident a fix will be released soon. As far as how that is distributed either a patch from MS or in the form of a new build from ZA has not been determined. We will notify all users of a fix when its ready at the top of the forum in the main announcements section. We also still stand by our current workaround that you should uninstall the MS update KB951748And do not set your ZA internet security level to Medium. By setting to Medium you potentially expose your computers to alarger number of other threats than just the one that this patch from MS fixes. Forum Moderator

Either uninstall the MS updates KB951748 and KB951698 (in the Control Panel's Add and Remove Programs and check the "Show updates" box) or set the ZA's Internet Security slider to Medium<hr>
It is more secure to use the Internet Security slider at the High level not at the Medium level.
Or use the High and create specific rules will work as well with the latest MS updates.

If you wish to retain the MS updates and use the Internet Security slider at High (the default and correct setting), then do an uninstall of the ZA, after the required re-boot then manually remove the files found inside of these folders:
[*]WINDOWS\ Internet Logs folder[*]Program Files\Zone Labs folder[*]WINDOWS\system32\ Zonelabs folder[*] any files in the Windows\Temp folder[*] and any files found in the Temp folders found in the Document and Settings[*]empty the Recycle Bin

    Then re-install the ZA.

This method has been successful with the older ZA 5.5.094.000 and with the latest MS updated all installed, on a windows xp he sp3.
