Default Proper configuration to prevent "vsmon.exe" freezups?

I use ZASS 8.0.059.000 and get intermittant freezups at internet sites with an error message popping up identified as "vsmon.exe."
Prior to that I have seen delays with an icon at the bottom of the screen saying "testing for phishing site."
Is there some way to configure ZASS to prevent this problem?
I have written Check Point Technical Support today and am awaiting their answer.
Thanks in advance if you know how to configure ZASS to prevent this problem.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:8.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

Hi!as already suggested you need to turn OFF privacy control (adblocking, cookies control and mobile code).http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/b...ssage.id=54551The message related to phishing is not by ZA but by your browser. If ZA privacy control are OFF and you still see problem, try to shutdown completely ZA and test the sites that have problems.Cheers,Fax

Since you have already Contacted Tech support..It is better that you wait for an official reply from Checkpoint Tech Support..Please note that ZASS does not play nice with many overlapping security tools (even if disabled). To troubleshoot ZASS issues remove them and install back once you see that ZA works as it should. For example, spyspweeper, spyware doctor, trojan hunter, adware, SpyBotS&D, PC tools Threatfire, otherantivirus, antispyware, registry locking tools, etc...Here is a List of the Most common User problems..a.) The first thing a Hacker, Trojan or Virus tries to do if they infect your computer or gain access to your Computer, thru an Email Attachment or pop-up on a Website or user over-ridding the Security alerts by the firewall, is to shutdown, any Firewall, AV/AS.. That is why some users have problems updating ZoneAlarm or any other security program..vsmon.exe/TrueVector is the first thing that loads when your computer starts to boot up, the ZA tray Icon is just a Icon that loads later in the Boot-up process..and TrueVector /vsmon.exe is the last thing to shutdown when your computer shuts down to insure that your computer is always protected..That is why " if Load ZoneAlarm on startup in not Un-checked" and computer Rebooted, Truevector will stay in Memory and will not be removed during Install or Upgrade, in fact the install may fail because Truevector in an attempt to protect your computer will think that the New Install attempt to install a new version of Truevector may be a Hacker Attempting to shut down Truevector..That is why it is very Important to use the Un-Check "Start ZA on Startup" method so that a New Upgrade Copy of TrueVector/vsmon.exe can be installed..b.) some Computer Users think that if one Firewall and anti-Virus is good, two or three different ones running at the same time must be better? --------------------------------------------------------

    Fax,

    It appears you are CORRECT.
When I got the VSMon.exe freezes, I did have under Privacy, Cookie Control at High, Ad Blocking at High and Mobile Code Control Off.

I also notice that with IE7 Privacy at Medium, it already controls cookies.
Maybe the double control with IE7 and ZASS caused the problems.

Thus, I now changed Cookie Control to Off and Ad Blocking to Medium.
I retained Mobile Control at Off.

I'm trying to avoid downloading and installing IE7Pro to avoid new learning curves and variables.
If Ad Blocking at Medium still results in VSMon.exe freezes, then I will turn it off as well.
Maybe I will just accept all the ads.
They really don't bother me and some websites may use the ads as part of their normal functions (for example, The Weather Channel site).
