Default How can I stop the Scanning process...

Please tell me how I can stop the automatic scanning process.Every time I open my PC the scanning process starts, slows my PC to a crawl.I have adjusted the programme to just quick scan "Folders and start up Items only"I have paused the scan
    - it ignores me.I have cancelled the scan - it ignores me.When cancelling the scan the programme disappears or goes into Not Responding mode - still it scans.I have just renewed my subscription - I think I might have erred there.I am running XP SP2.Grateful for any and all help as I am about to uninstall this programme.Thanks.

    dustyv,

Have you tried resetting the zone alarm database? What you describe sounds like the database is corrupted and usually resetting the database solves the problem. A corrupt za database can be caused by any "unusual" shutdown like a power outage or crash.

To reset the Zone Alarm database do this:

1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

Be aware that by resetting the database you will lose all your customizations and zone alarm will be like its brand new.
