Default Firefox, Thunderbird and AVG antivirus "trying to act like a server"

Tonight, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Thunderbird, and then AVGs updating program all came up as "trying to act like a server." They have never done this before. If I click deny they do not work. Is this normal behavior? Are they supposed to act as servers? I recently installed spywareblaster and spybot if that makes a difference.

    Operating System:Windows Vista Home Basic
    Software Version:7.1 (Vista)
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

    Happened to me this morning.
Zonealarm (8 free) says 'AVG updater is trying to act as a server'.

Didn't have time to look into it more.

Using Vista but a fairly vanilla installation so no spybot etc.
