Default ZASS 8 refuses to download Adobe Flash Installer .exe file

On my brand new computer, running Vista Home Premium SP1 (Dell), and AVG 7/5 Anti-Virus, along with ZASS 8.0, and with Windows Security turned off, and ZASS Antivirus turned off, I can not download more than a few k bytes of Adobe's Flash Installer -- or any other .exe file. (pdf's download just fine) Multiple attempts give different sizes of the file every time. I get no error messages about blocking, and mobile code is turned off. Firefox 3 has every privilege in the book, and it dutifully tries to download, but can't get it done. Oh, I also get no error message from Firefox's side or from AVG either. The download window looks like it completed successfully.

Same thing happened with AVG update file. Turned off ZASS and the update downloaded ok, I think.......

I've looked at everything I could think of in AVG and FF -- not to mention ZASS but since I'm new to Vista/AVG/ZASS combo, I think I need help.

    Operating System:Windows Vista Home Premium
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

Hi!this can be caused by many different factors. First of all overlapping tools conflicts behind the scene even if disabled. Corruption may arise in different forms and different effects. In your specific case, if you do not run the AV in ZASS you should move to ZAPRO. Also note that generally Kaspersky detection in ZASS is better than AVG detection. The combination of the two does not make 100% sense.Aside for the above, you may want to reset the ZASS settings to see if you can correct the issue. Corruption that may be caused by the above:1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after rebootFinally you should cross check that Windows Firewall is turned OFF. Both ZASS and windows firewal active can cause communication problems.Hope this helps.Cheers,Fax

    Hi fax,

Thanks a bunch. Your fix did the trick.

Now AVG is fighting with WinVista. YUK!

Gonna dump it and switch to ZA's virus checking.
Should'a done that in the first place.

    Regards,
